This is a project that I have used in various church ministries through the years. It is based on the idea of the book “Flat Stanley” by Jeff Brown. You can find more information on the www.flatstanley.com/ website.
Coloring pages are at the bottom of the page.

Dear Friend in Christ;
Jesus loves the little children,
All the children of the world,
Red and yellow, Black and white,
They are precious in His sight.
Jesus loves the little children of the world!Our children have been learning about Jesus and his love for all the people around the world. For the next ten weeks the children will be learning about the people and the children of the world who love Jesus. Now we would like you to help us share the love of Jesus with our children!
Do you remember the lyrics of the song above? The song goes on to share the message of God’s promise for each of us –
Jesus rose for all the children
All the children of the world
Red and yellow, Black and white,
They are precious in His sight.
Jesus rose for all the children of the worldWould you please take Jesus somewhere in your community? We would also like to ask you to take a picture of yourself, your children, or the children in your church with our drawing of Jesus. Then, please send us a photograph so we can share them with the other children of our church. You might even want to include a letter about your community and the things Jesus is doing there! Other ideas would be picture postcards, maps, or a travel journal. When you have shared Jesus with your community please let us know at this address:

I took an “unchurched” person to church recently, and she was shocked – apalled – that in the year 2012, people are sitting in church and singing a song that refers to children as “red” and “yellow.” It’s terribly offensive to some people who are of the race implied.

Thanks! I just hope that it can be used by a children’s ministry somewhere to share God’s message of hope.
